THE MIGHTY AND THE MOON / TOM KAY
Tom Kay is a guitarist/singer/songwriter from Hull, UK who started his playing career at the tender age of 6. Over the past 15 years Tom has covered a ranged of genres including rock, metal, country, folk, blues and acoustic. Taking influence from his heroes Stevie Ray Vaughan, Richie Kotzen, Gary Moore and Steve Vai, He has performed around the UK with many different bands and artists.
Tom is currently the guitarist of The Mighty and The Moon who released their first full-length album ‘Songs Of The Morning Bird’ in March 2014. EXIT WEXT Radio in New York made the album ‘Album Of The Week’ and their single ‘Broken Town’ has frequently received airplay on BBC Radio. The band has performed live sessions for the BBC and has appeared at many music festivals around the UK. The band has a busy schedule planned for the remainder of the year to promote the album.
As well as performing with The Mighty and The Moon, Tom also regularly records and performs as a solo artist. Signed to independent label ALT-Records, Tom has had many solo releases including ‘Disclosure’ and the soon to be released ‘Hearts, Lungs & Apologies’. His music has received airplay on many radio stations including BBC Radio and has been invited to perform live sessions for them on multiple occasions. He has shared the stage with artists such as Gordon Giltrap, Jason Feddy, Simon McBride and Tony Moore (Cutting Crew). Tom has worked as a session musician and closely worked with award winning singer/songwriter Mike Rogers for 10 years.
Tom’s playing has created work for him with Scott Dixon Inc, which saw him perform at Sonisphere in 2010 and 2011 as a demonstrator of their products.
Tom is an endorsee of Faith acoustic guitars, Scott Dixon Inc cases and Rotosound strings.
