WORLD FAMOUS MUSIC STRINGS

BUZZCOCKS

The Buzzcocks were formed in 1976 by founding members Steve Diggle, Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto.

They released the first independent punk record ‘Spiral Scratch’ which inspired many DIY record labels to start up.

After just seven shows Devoto left, Steve Diggle and Pete Shelley along with John Maher and Steve Garvey carried on, having many hits such as ‘Promises’, ‘Ever Fallen In Love With…’, ‘Harmony in my Head’ and ‘Everybody’s Happy Nowadays’.

By the early 1980’s the band had split, only to reform in 1989. Steve Diggle and Pete Shelley are the original driving force, and still continue accompanied by various rythymn line ups over the years.

Steve and Pete are two of the greatest songwriters of their generation, their inspiration and unique sound is legendary and continues to resound around the world today.

Steve Diggle continues to write solo material, and Pete Shelley has been involved in several arts projects.
