In a remarkable and varied career defined by his innate versatility Laurence Cottle has performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in entertainment across a myriad of musical styles. The bassist of choice for many, Laurence has played with Seal, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Brian Eno, Mike Oldfield and Procul Harem.
He has recorded 3 albums under his own name and continues to tour with his Big Band. The bass player with Bill Bruford’s “Earthworks” and Pee Wee Ellis’s “Funk Assembly” and a regular part of Ronnie Scott’s “All Stars” his jazz credentials are impeccable, including work with the likes of Jim Mullen, Django Bates, Gary Husband, Jason Rebello and Tim Garland.
A remarkable musician with an International reputation it is fair to say that he is one of the finest electric bass players ever to come out of the UK.
With his big band, Laurence showcases his considerable ability as a composer and arranger, incorporating eclectic styles and influences, taking the format well beyond conventional expectations. Capitalising on the technical facilities of the best jazz artists in the country Laurence crafts stunning dynamic and challenging arrangements.
