When Devin Hoffman fell off the family piano at age two, requiring six stitches to the back of the head, he knew music was in his future. He picked up the guitar a few years later but it wasn’t until he found the acoustic bass that his years of focused study began. “I learned the bass to get out of art class in middle school,” he says. In his sophomore year of high school he met producer/songwriter David Seigel (T.I., Enrique Iglesias, Celine Dion), who simultaneously mentored and used young Devin for recording and live projects.
He then went on to study acoustic bass at the University of Southern California under bass guru John Clayton (Diana Krall). Since his move to LA, Devin has become one of the most sought after young acoustic and electric bass players for virtually every style of music. In the jazz world, he has recorded, performed or toured with Renee Olstead, Richard Smith, Ellis and Jason Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval, Larry Goldings and Bruce Forman. Popular music credits include Spencer Day, Lindsey Ray, Celeste Prince, Jes Hudak and Tommy King.
